Charming, quiet mountain retreat

Maison Rouge was a well-maintained property and had such generous space for families or groups of friends to stay. Myself and my cousin enjoyed taking the flat-bottom boat out on the lake for a leisure paddle. Felt it was a great value and would prioritize this property in planning a return trip.

This was our third trip to Highlands, NC and our first trip to Maison Rouge. We were thoroughly impressed by all on offer at this property. We were less than a mile from downtown, but on Mirror Lake on a quiet road, we felt so remote!

Absolutely LOVED our stay at Maison Rouge, and can’t wait to return. The setting on Mirror Lake is fabulous, the porches are so relaxing and we enjoyed the boat as well. The downstairs entertainment kitchen was perfect while grilling.
We loved the homey feel and the owner’s personal touches. Especially enjoyed the books on Highlands history.
If we could stay all summer, we would! Hopefully we can come back and stay a whole month. The king bed was very comfortable.
