Project Description

HEARDLOT Lodge is a spacious two-story Log House in Whiteside Cove, half-way between Highlands and Cashiers. Situated on a 5-acre site, this comfortable lakefront property adjoins the trailhead of the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River Trail and the expansive Nantahala National Forest. Think summer camp for families and adults alike, with the comforts of home!

Play golf at High Hampton or other public courses in the Highlands-Cashiers area. . . Photograph the many waterfalls in the vicinity . . . Watch the hummingbirds . . . Read a great novel . . . 5 Bedrooms / 3 bathrooms. Sleeps 10, with 2 queens, 1 full, and 4 twin beds, plus 4 bonus twins. Large open living/dining area; covered porch. Lakefront dock with grill and chiminea. Microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer, fireplace, wood stove, and grill. Landline telephone and internet service. No cell phone service. TV via wi-fi video-streaming and DVD player (no regular TV service). Pet friendly.

Just so you understand what kind of property this is, it’s a great property, but it’s not ‘fancy’ by a long shot. The bedding is good and plentiful, the cabin is nice, the property is IN the woods, the kitchen is retro/vintage at best. Some people would say this is like a camping cabin or summer camp for the family and friends. There is one TV in the living area that is pretty much only for DVDs- you can bring your DVDs. There is internet at the cabin, but due to the location, the reception isn’t what most people would expect when they see ‘WiFi’ listed as an amenity. If anyone in your group needs technology- like good internet, good cell phone reception, Heardlot Lodge probably isn’t the place to be. If anyone in your party requires air conditioning, Heardlot Lodge isn’t the place. But, if you want solitude, and nature, and fresh mountain air while you live in a beautiful old mountain cabin, well then, Heardlot Lodge IS the place you want to be!

There is a wooded path to the lake, where there is a small dock on a private lake. The lake doesn’t belong to the owners of this property, but they have permission to use it. There is a grill at the lake. It’s a wonderful place to ‘getaway’ from it all and relax in the cool mountain air.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge may have Cades Cove, but Highlands and Cashiers has Whiteside Cove, one of the region’s best kept secrets!
The area is non-commercial, yet has a sophistication all its own.

This was a beautiful surprise. The house was very clean and with all that is necessary. The only thing I would improve is the lightning because in the evenings it was dark in the common aéreas. And maybe have something for the mosquitoes or little bugs.
