Just so you understand what kind of property this is, it’s a great property, but it’s not ‘fancy’ by a long shot. The bedding is good and plentiful, the cabin is nice, the property is IN the woods, the kitchen is retro/vintage at best. Some people would say this is like a camping cabin. There is one small TV that is pretty much only for DVDs- you can bring your DVDs. There is internet at the cabin, but due to the location, the reception isn’t what most people would expect when they see ‘WiFi’ listed as an amenity. If anyone in your group needs technology- like good internet, good cell phone reception, Heardlot probably isn’t the place to be. If anyone in your party requires air conditioning, Heardlot isn’t the place. But, if you want solitude, and nature, and fresh mountain air while you can live in a beautiful old mountain cabin, well then, Heardlot IS the place you want to be!
There is a wooded path to the lake, where there is a small dock on a private lake. The lake doesn’t belong to the owners of this property, but they have permission to use it. There is a grill at the lake. It’s a wonderful place to ‘getaway’ from it all and relax in the cool mountain air.
Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge may have Cades Cove, but Highlands and Cashiers has Whiteside Cove, one of the region’s best kept secrets!
The area is non-commercial, yet has a sophistication all its own.
