Hideaway Cabin
It’s called Hideaway for a reason- Most GPS can’t find it! Forget all your day-to-day worries in this 3 bedroom, 2 bath secluded log cabin located about 3 miles from town. Even though this cabin is secluded, it’s not remote. It’s bordered by unspoiled properties, some of which are protected in perpetuity.
The main level offers the living area with wood burning fireplace, open kitchen area, covered front porch, small screened entry porch, Mst. BR with King bed, one bath, mud room, and back open deck area. The upper level has a full bath in between two bedrooms- one is a large BR with Queen bed and TV (for DVD use), and the other is an open loft bedroom with a queen bed. The loft looks over into the living area which has a queen sleeper sofa.
The grounds are kept natural and are full of native wildflowers, ferns, rhododendrons and mountain laurel. There are two hammocks here, a fire pit by the driveway entrance,a great place for storytelling and making S’mores, and a corn hole game as well. This cabin is air-conditioned and has a satellite TV and DVD player. For the grill masters, there’s a Green Egg grill (new in 2021) to cook up your masterpiece steak or fresh-caught mountain trout.
WiFi was added in 2015- but this is still a great spot to disconnect, relax, rewind- and enjoy the mountain.

Autumn in the Highlands
Very comfortable and clean. It was better than we anticipated. Loved the conveniences with a log cabin feel. The kitchen was wonderful.

It had all the essentials, was clean and perfect for our needs. No close neighbors or busy roads. Our dogs had plenty of space as did we. We would stay here again.

We loved the cabin-kitchen was nice for thanksgiving-I was not satisfied with the linens-our blanket under the comforter had moth holes in it and the towels had pills-all need to be replaced! A washcloth had moth webs on it-gross!

would have liked for more bedrooms on the main floor. upstairs bath, kinda funkie.
We were looking for a pet friendly rental and this was perfect.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Hideaway cabin is in a secluded area but close to town. It was clean and comfortable and we would definitely stay there again. We were looking for a pet friendly rental and this was perfect.

Cute cabin nestled in the woods
We loved our stay here and would happily go back! Everything we needed was there and it was a clean and cozy cabin. It was very private, completely surrounded by woods. It was a short drive into Highlands so very convenient.
The only negative was the kitchen was outdated as we could not get the oven to work. They did have a toaster oven so we used that instead.
Highly recommend going to Dusty’s Superette for meats to grill!

Beautiful vaulted ceilings, great porches, and seclude setting made for a peaceful and relaxing time
Enjoyed the wooded setting along with the swing, hammock, and smoking some barbecue in the smoker. Very close proximity to downtown.
Great quiet Cabin
We have stayed at the Hideaway cabin for about 4 years now. We love it. Its very quiet and has many amenities. You can build a camp fire outside and enjoy the night air. This summer we were inside just hanging out watching TV and my daughter looked out the window and saw a bear just meandering in the grass by the fire pit. The bear came all the way on the porch and just looked in the door, then wandered off. The cabin can easily house 6 people and has plenty of room. If you like nature and enjoy being out, this is the cabin for you!!
